The Kelvedon Players have been providing amateur drama in Kelvedon for over fifty years, everything from pantomime to comedy, farce to musicals. A grant from the local Community Initiatives fund allowed them to invest in some much needed new staging.
After a brief look at the website, Barry French contacted Maltbury with the view to purchasing one of the staging kits. It was decided that Maltbury’s Studio Kit offered the best deal for their requirements but that handrails were not necessary. The result was a combination of standard sized Metrodeck with a variety of leg lengths and the option for easy storage and movement of the decks.
The Kelvedon Players will be using the staging to extend their current stage and to create various stage heights depending on what the production requires. It replaces some old wooden trestle table style staging that is very heavy and, according to Barry, took four people to move. Barry is thrilled with the outcome and says, ‘The new staging is great, we have a lot more options of how we design our set than we did before.’
