Over the years, Maltbury Staging have supplied Shakespeare's Globe with various decks, assorted legs and accessories to suit a vast array of performances. For their 2008 Summer Tour, project manager Paul Russell was confident that Maltbury would provide exactly what he needed, on time and at a suitable price.
The Globe chose The Winter's Tale as the perfect play for a summer's evening, with its blend of drama and fairytale. Paul Russell knew too well that they would need a stage to withstand all manner of weather conditions, since the majority of their performances would be based outside in the changeable British climate. They also needed something demountable and quick to set up, suited to the speedy turnarounds of the show.
There was really only one option for Paul’s requirement - Metrodeck Ultra, Maltbury's lightest staging system. The package was straightforward yet versatile using an aluminium frame with a lightweight plywood top. As the tour made its way around the country, Paul reported how vital it was having flexible and manageable staging and now only has to worry about the cast! As Paul says himself, 'I would have no hesitation in recommending Maltbury to other companies.'
